Time for me to chime in on the battery topic and remind folks about Sabah Oceanic. Some time back Gennadiy pointed them out as being a good place to buy cells where they'll (or used to) actually weld the cells together for you:

However when I look at cell sizes there, the question of capacity vs. a cell size that will fit in the Libby battery cases comes into question again. Here's what John M. said at one point:

From what you've written if I recall correctly, you must have cut off the entire top of the battery pack to be able to squeeze those 18.3mm dia. cells in there. 2.3mm is a significant amount of extra space to have to provide.
Yes. It is wide enough but not tall enough. --------------------------------------
So are we stuck with >1500-1600mah NiMH cells if we want to replace the ones in our Lib packs without cutting away the case to make room for longer cells?
If not, who's selling higher capacity cells that will fit at this point?
Sorry if this has been answered in threcent months.
Matt
