Hello! I can see that Toshiba and Hitachi/IBM are going different ways in design of 1.8 inch HDDs. Toshiba way seems a bit strange, they kept PC card format, just modified the connector, and it cannot be directly connected to the standard IDE connector for 2.5 inch drive. Travelstar C4K40, on the other hand, can easily replace any 2.5" HDD with obvious benefits for those who don't care too much about speed. Unlike most of you, I still live with 2 GB HDD as my Lib SS1000 has 6.5 mm thick drive inside. Single-platter version of the Travelstar is 7 mm, might be OK. However, everything which is not 'industry standard' is very expensive, and until the standard is established I will not be able to afford such a thing. Anybody knows which way *they* are going to choose? Best wishes, Vitaly ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
