Subject: irda and setting console resolution

does anyone know how to set up irda in linux? I have compiled in the
toshiba fir irda driver and ircomm is in my /dev file like it should be
but when I try to use it it does not work. Since the libretto fir is
native it should really be plug and play but doesn't seem to be. For
example--if I start ppp using ircomm0 as the port it should just load then
when I put my ir enabled modem to the port it should be usable but it
doesn't seem to be. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also I am having a little trouble setting up the bash console to the
800x480 screen resolution of the 110CT. I am using the vesa driver in both
xWindows and Bash but the screen won't set up in 800x480 just 800x600 in
Bash. In xWindows it works though. I have set up the same modeline in the
Bash console configuration file and the xWindows configuration file. Does
anyone know what the proper setup is for the video screen in the Bash
console? TIA

john
