I don't have vast amounts of Linux experience but I'm learning. And each time I investigate something new I try to avoid GUI configuration like the plague, but it's getting harder. Down at my local Borders (book store) I tried to find books to learn more about Linux. ALL of them seem to rely on having X up and running. Very few of them use command line tools at all. It's infuriating because I wanted to set up a Linux box without X. It was going to be a file/print/www server so why the hell did I need X? According to the books I needed X to configure the services. I found a better book! /rant What GUI were you trying to use? KDE or Gnome, which seem to be the main default offerings, are a no go on a Libby... but perhaps Fluxbox (http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/) would work well? You'd have to choose your X apps carefully though bearing in mind your 64Mb RAM limit and that the Libbys IDE interface is S L O W ... so SWAP space isn't so useful. Firefox (for what it's worth this is the BEST browser on the planet ok!) takes around 30Mb on it's own... but there are other lighter alternatives. Dillo or I've seen Lynx hacked to support graphics. For suggestions on lightweight Linux XF86 apps check out DamnSmallLinux (www.damnsmalllinux.org). p.s.
