what version of kernel? I'd check to make sure you have the correct pcmcia drivers compiled in. as I recall I didn't have to mess with the bios at all when running linux on the libby. I ran both 2.6 and 2.4 kernels.

yes. you just plug it in and the kernel will hot plug it for you if you have hot plug and have a nec controller on the card.
Actually I found in the end that I had to disable 'auto' on the pcmcia controller in the BIOS, once I had set it to the 16bit option, all my problems went away.
