Hello, everyone, I want to report that I finally got Win XP Pro running on my L100.
David's tip was the missing link. I had to put the hard drive back into the desktop, make the c:\ partition "active", and then manually copy the DOS system files to it. Then the Win XP setup process ran successfully, including rebooting from the c:\ drive to finish the setup. Thanks everyone!!!
Now I have a battery problem. I'll post about that separately.
