Okay, I flashed the BIOS to v8.10 and there is some change. Now "suspend" causes the Lib to show a screen with a cartoon of a Libretto sending its screen to a disk, and the L100 goes into hibernation! It is not a correct "suspend", but at least it can be woken up gracefully from this condition.
I recall, when the Lib was running Win98, I could configure it to suspend/standby when the screen was closed, and to hibernate when the power button was pressed. It seems I'm not going to be able to do that under WinXP. If that can be done under Win2K, it is another reason to change the O/S.
