Subject: Win2k install update

Ok so I do everything by the book... First I try to make a dos floppy from a
disk image. Doesn't work, says that my disk drive doesn't support the image
format (using a PC that is just 2 years old). I finally find a dos disk image
from the net that works, so I get to make the dos boot floppy after 15 minutes
of trying.

Then I boot up the Libretto with it and type "sys c: a:"... And instead of
transferring the system files like a good boy, I get an error "not enough space
on target drive". I then check that c: has over 1 gig of free space and run
scandisk's surface scan... everything looks ok. At this point I am considering
of throwing something on the wall very hard but fortunately I am not holding
anything in my hands :)

I then thought "what more could go wrong?"... and I manually deleted every Win98
folder from my HD, then booted up with the dos floppy, loaded smartdrive (the
only thing that actually worked at first try) and started to install win2k. The
win2k install has been running for 90 minutes or so now and is probably
finished soon. So the point here is that I didn't transfer the system files to
C:\ but left the old Win98 stuff there. (whatever that is...?)

So that's just an update on the hard road I have gone through, as you remember I
have had "some" problems with my new Libretto earlier but hopefully everything
will go smoothly as I get w2k installed.

And one question considering the boot image disk; Was it ok to manually delete
the Win98 files from the HD without transferring the "clean" dos boot image
(with sys c: a:) from the floppy? Are there some files on root c:\ that should
still be deleted? I only deleted the Win98 dir and also the Program Files dir.
Also, can win2k get faulty because there are W98 system files on c:\? And how
to remove them (and what are the file names to be removed if there are such
leftover files?)

Thanks.
