Subject: RE: [LIB] OT - 2.5" 32GB jumper?

From: Vitaly Pavlenko <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I have seen a jumper on desktop hard drives that would limit capacity by 32GB. Is it possible with any notebook drive? The reason is that 40GB models are cheaper now than 30GB. My external IBM enclosure is apparently limited to 32GB drives.

Are you sure the external drive is really limited to 30GB Vitaly? I'd just try a larger drive if you can get one to test. It seems I've read posts by people who asked about external HDD enclosures they too thought had a limited capacity. But it turned out that the enclosure could in fact support much more. The limiting factor was actually something else above 100GB or so... Was it the operating system or file system folks??

Matt
