Great read!

I'd given up on my Libbys and had pretty much moved entirely over to my
Zaurii for portable computing. (I've got an SL-C3000 - a clamshell with
a 4gb HD, VGA screen, and USB host. I've actually burnt a CD off of it!
Previous to getting the Z I went from the 110ct to a Panasonic Toughbook
M34, which is too big, but has a touchscreen like my Libretto 50m and
USB. :()

Having an option of a low-memory X server makes me interesting in using
the 110ct again. I'll probably use it for coding - The Zaurus makes a
great unit for text editing, and coding is certainly possible, but it is
a little clunky :)

What I'm shooting for:

Mandrake 10.x/9.2, whichever I can get to work. It's got a fresh 9.2 on
it right now, via a USB cdrom install.

Blackbox

nedit -> For coding. Very nice Motif based coding editor with a small
footprint.

Siag office -> looks interesting enough to try.

Skipstone -> I'm going to set up a compilation server and give this one
a go. It looks interesting enough to throw some effort behind as well.
I hate dillo, but would rather not pay for opera. I'm refitting the Z
because I can, not because I need to sink more cash into it :)

Sylpheed-Claws -> Improved version of Sylpheed.

I'll probably go for XMMS for mp3 playback, unless mp3blaster can do
streaming audio. It doesn't look like it.

Someone else suggested using rxvt term and gnu screen for a lightweight
alternative to a tabbed terminal.

Anyone know of a good, lightweight image viewing program? I use gview on
my desktop, but I want to avoid gnome software.

I'll be using Ko/PI and Ka/PI (KDE Organizer/addressbook, platform
independant) for calendaring and address management - they're what I use
on the Zaurus and, despite their name, aren't dependant on anything but
their own libs.

Any other good, lightweight software suggestions? I think I've got a
long week ahead of me here :)
