This is what I've found out so far--I am comparing it to my old 110CT. Some is just obvious. U100 has 1.2 GHz and it runs at about 500-800MHz on average. has 512MB ram -- windows uses over half. 110CT has 233MHz CPU and 64MB ram running 2000. Toshiba 60 gig hard drive in both. This is a comparision where I use it for just playing MPEG vidoes, MP3s, and web browsing. U100 plays MPEGs much better, of course, it can play them either off the DVD player or files and has better battery life doing it. The 110CT would give about 1.5-2 hours with a 3AH cell pack, the U100 goes about 2-4 hours on a 3.4Ah cell pack. The U100 is pretty much better in every way for this. MP3s --depends-- I suspect for a dedicted MP3 player the 110CT has the advantage of being a much less expensive outlay in cash--around 400-700 as compared to 2 grand:)). Both do that equally as well. However with the improved engineering that went into the U100 it is much better for mixing with an external 24 or greater bit sound card. Much better distortion control. However, once again if cost is the issue, the 110CT is definately still useable since I found it very outstanding for this with an updated cardbus sound card. Web browing--basically reading the news feeds and email--both do this equally well including on battery power. So far so good with the U100. I found it very difficult to play videos on my 110CT otherwise it kicked!! But if you don't need to the 110CT still rocks!! However now that I have a U100 I am really impressed with Toshiba engineering once again. The thought that crosses my mind when I use it is simply--have they spent the last 5 years designing it? It sure seems like it and to me seems inexpensive at the 2 grand sticker. john anon --------------------------------- Yahoo! Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. Sign up for Fantasy Football
