Do not expect too much. You will save 0.5 W vs any other modern 4200 rpm hard 
disk drive. 0.7 W vs very old, 10 GB one. These figures are while 
reading/writing. Overall impact on the battery life will be entirely 
negligible. No not mean to say the drive is bad - 1.5 W while working is just 
great. But other components on the notebook are just too hungry.

Strictly speaking, this means the drive is a generator in fact :)
