I am new on this list and this is just my personal introduction post;
please feel free to ignore it.

My in-world name is Synthalor Mandelbrot. I am basically an SL noob (a
bit over 60 days old). In world, I concentrate on making virtual
friends and developing my skills in building, scripting, and animating.
I spent much of my early time on Help Island, observing the Mentors, and
hope to be one of them soon. In RL, I am a technical lead and senior
software architect and engineer, currently working mostly in .NET space,
doing SOA and other stuff. For more about me and my various rantings,
see my weblog at http://weblogs.asp.net/jtobler/. Your libsecondlife
project looks very interesting and promising; that's why I joined the
list. I hope to help out as libsecondlife, and my understanding of
things, evolves.

I am totally fascinated with the current actuality and future promise of
SL. We have come a *very* long way since I wrote my first symbolic
logic routine in FORTRAN IV for an IBM 1401! I applaud LL for being the
first to make me feel like my avatar is actually "living" in a virtual
universe, rather than simply playing yet another video game. I am
highly impressed with LL's decision to strongly support content creation
by SL residents. I believe that this decision, more than the current
somewhat blindered emphasis on economics and the almighty L$, is a huge
part of what makes SL such a vibrant and immersive experience over the
long-term. It is easy to hook someone's interest for a three-day or
even three-month game. To make so many residents want to live in-world
for years, now that's a serious achievement! Congratulations, LL!

For the most part, I have been pleasantly surprised to see so many
in-world tools for building and scripting. I encourage LL to continue
improvement of its internal tools and *strongly* recommend that it pay
more attention to integration with external graphics tools, standards,
and formats. I oppose hidden, secret, proprietary protocols. I promote
interaction with open standards and interoperation with a variety of
open and community-accepted protocols and file formats. I oppose LL's
implicit endorsement of and dependence on expensive, vendor-locked
external creation tools (such as PhotoShop and Poser). I celebrate the
efforts of residents to create new tools, such as the amazing
resident-written, free, and Open Source Second Life Animation Tool
(SLAT), to get around such limitations. In that same spirit, I support
the libsecondlife project and want to be part of it.

BTW, I do not publish my RL name in-world so please keep this
information within this group.

I look forward to working with you all!
