I log in to the forums tonight, and am faced with a long - and growing
post about the SL Copy Bot.
This is a little scary, guys. The fact that someone wrote that doesn't
bug me - it's a natural first step toward being able to rez custom
objects. What scares me is that people are putting this kind of stuff
out there - pictures and videos of people showing this off?
LibSL doesn't need this kind of negative publicity. I'm just hoping
that the people who posted these videos & pics weren't any of the
regulars here.
Just so the rest of us are up to speed: exactly what does Copy Bot do?
What does it NOT do? I've seen a couple of terrifying questions:
1. can it copy inventory inside of other objects (like vendor contents)?
2. Can it copy scripts?
My gut feeling is that it can't, but I've been wrong about this stuff
before (since SL's protocol seems to work almost exactly the opposite
of how I'd do a lot of this stuff).
If we're going to counter the FUD that Lewis and Coco are spreading,
we need good, solid info that can be relied on here.
