I know that announced dates for things don't hold much weight in SL (or
the net in general), but rumors circulating around say a beta client
will be released next Wednesday that implements the new REST (https)
protocol for all of the reliable client->viewer transactions. This would
be a very good thing and make libsecondlife much more reliable and easy
to write, but it also means a significant rewrite of most of the
library. The beta period will probably last a while so when it's
released we'll fork the code, and hopefully we can gather as many
programmers, reverse engineers, documentation writers, and testers as
possible for the rewrite.

Get your rest, I'll see you next week! :-)
