Sure, we should fix the socket_state but that's a subject for the mailing
list, not this bug report.
I've now pushed the 4 changes from your patched that seemed to be
remaining and that fix various leaks that you've mentioned. AFAIK, this
means all the memory leak issues you've reported in this tickets have been
taken care of.
Can you detect any remaining leaks?
