The libtool-multilang branch of libtool seems to be having
difficulties lately due to its assumption that -B (a MIPS
compatability option in GNU nm) is accepted by nm. Unfortunately, it
is not accepted by BSD or Solaris nm, and produces an error message
similar to the following:

checking command to parse /usr/bin/nm -B output... nm: illegal option
-- B
usage: nm [-agnopruw] [file ...]
nm: illegal option -- B
usage: nm [-agnopruw] [file ...]
