libtool --version ?

Any reason that `libtool --version' doesn't work anymore with the
current CVS version?  It breaks a script of me that I use(d) to
determine which version of libtool people are using.

If it is deliberately removed, then is it garanteed that
`libtoolize --version' will keep working?
