check the fftw package for installation instructions.

it's possible they forgot to include an updated aclocal.m4, in which case
you may have to generate it yourself. you will need automake, autoconf,
libtool and perl.

you might consider contacting the package maintainers, if there is no
information about things related to installing the package correctly (hint
look for steps including aclocal, automake, and autoconf).

note. most packages that are ready to be distributed *should not require*
these steps. might be an oversight on the package maintainers.

cheers,
edward

Subject: Problem with AM_ENABLE_SHARED and AM_PROG_LIBTOOL

Hi

I'm trying to install the package FFTW-2.1.3 on this

Linux version 2.2.12-20smp (gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux
(egcs-1.1.2 release))

but trying to run the make install command after configuring, I
obtain the following error messages:

config.in macro AM_ENABLE_SHARED not found in library - line 9
macro AM_PROG_LIBTOOL not found in library - line 92

May you tell me how can I solve this trouble?

Maria Chiara
