I have access to a Solaris 7. Please point out how I can build
/usr/local/kinetic/split/httpd-2.0.58/srclib/apr/libtool, and the httpd
tarball that exposes this error, and any other dependent software I may
need to build before that. It'd be helpful to know how libtool was
configured,
  /usr/local/kinetic/split/httpd-2.0.58/srclib/apr/libtool --config

and the failing link line with --debug added:
  /usr/local/kinetic/split/httpd-2.0.58/srclib/apr/libtool \
    --debug --mode=link gcc -g -O2 -pthreads -DSOLARIS2=7 ...

It's fine with me if you just keep the information in the bugzilla
above.

I've recently seen a similar error message in connection with Autoconf.
Let's see what's behind this.

Cheers, and thanks for reporting!
Ralf
