I use rtorrent on a monitor-less server where I need a good text-terminal bittorrent client. Rtorrent is a awesome, very efficient with libtorrent and way, way easier to use than the multiple bittornado clients I used to run on that computer. Unfortunately, the rtorrent display just doesn't quite fit in the standard 80x24 term window. Yes, you can expand the term, but there's only so much screen real estate one can comfortable alot to a term. Unfortunately, the latest changes to the rtorrent UI have made the 80 column display even worse. Of course, these changes were made to make the program easier to use via a menu. It seems that ease-of-use and fitting the UI in 80 columns are conflicting goals. One way around it would be to allow horizontal and vertical screen scrolling like the program htop. Ideally all the really important info in each of the rtorrent screens would fit in the 80x24 display, but you could still scroll around to see the "extra" information so the columns wouldn't become squished. With this, you can also avoid the UBFAILED bug postings. The big questions is who's gonna code it. There are probably more important things that should be done for rtorrent first. -- Go directly to jail.
