I was testing on Ubuntu 9.04 (gcc 4.3.3/glibc 2.9) in default mode (./configure;) test-async-sig run-ptrace-mapper regressed after the PLT patch. I haven't had a chance to look into the failures yet. I already got most of your patches applied. Thanks for resending (helps me verify that I didn't screw up). -Arun
