The 4 patches proposed by Ludovic (merged into 3) as well as the toggleable debug logging one have now been pushed to git.
Note that as discussed previously, the autoconf version requirement has been left to 2.50, instead of 2.68. So far my testing hasn't indicated much of an issue with that, but the platforms I use have a fairly recent version of the autotools.
