Hello, good people!

I just wanted to make you know that I am intending to release
libwpd-0.8.10 sometimes this week. The reason is that I discovered a
locale-dependency in generating strings from floats and would like to
fix it, since many OOo users (and AbiWord and KWord users too) run their
application in different locales from those that have decimal point set
to ("."). When one feeds OOo a float of "3,0001", it is not interpreting
it right. I hope I found a solution to do it correctly, so would call
upon all those that run locales where the decimal point is "," for
instance to try to run the regression suite and report any difference
compared to the reference results at
http://www.abisource.com/~uwog/libwpd-regression/

Moreover, the 0.8.10 will include an enhancement by David Hislop to our
WP6 metadata handling. David, there is an OASIS metadata proposal at
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/24327/ODF-Metadata-Proposal.pdf.
Could you have a look whether it gives us something useful before the
release?

Another change is the inclusion of a second and third WPXInputStream
implementations which do depend only on std libraries, so it is now
possible to build and link properly the wpd2foo tools with MSVS (the
free-as-beer 2005 Express edition).

So, this is the news and unless loud shouting happens, this is what will
happen.

Cheers

Fridrich
