Apologies for wasting bandwidth with my previous message. The November 
2010 news bulletin clearly states that the latest version includes:

Conversion of password protected WP1, WP3, WP42 and WP5 documents.

That answers my question. (And tells me that I will need to add a 
routine to the AppleScript wrapper I'm writing for wpd2odt that will 
detect whether a password-protected file is a supported <= version 5 
document or a non-supported >= version 6 document - an enjoyable challenge!)
