Yup, that'd do it.  I've been thinking about doing that for a very long
time.  I think I'm not terribly happy with the idea that <dl compact> will
turn into <dl compact="compact"> -- I'm worried that this may be
unintelligible to some of the dumber browsers (which is about all of them,
I sometimes think), so I'm thinking about just having there be an
$thing->as_XHTML() method or something.

OR: having there be whole bunch of options one can present to as_HTML.  I
think that I might end up going down that path anyway, so I might as well
have there be an option in there for XHTML output style.

Thanks for letting me know that there's folks out there who are interested
in XHTML syntax, tho.
