Hi - sent a message to someone at perl.com - they (the mail system) returned it saying yahoo.co.uk was a spam site :-) I had help about a week ago from [EMAIL PROTECTED] and he sent me the actual LWP::simple.pm file - Thankyou. But from that module, I need to obtain other module(S) for it to run. Q. I now have the GZIP utility - Can "un-zip" the *.GZ files. Can someone advise the correct directory, (other than what is quoted in the message below), that I can d/load the module(s) I need / want - WITHOUT installing the entire PERL processing system on my HDD. Thankyou. Gordon. Here is a copy of my message to perl.com (returned) :- > Hello > > BRIEF :- Basically - I'm using a Windows 3.x system, & have no need to run PERL on my actual PC. What I DO want, is to d/load *JUST* the modules that I need / want, & upload them to my site (which allows CGI / PERL). 1st part - Problem :- 2nd part :- Solution / Question. **************************************************** Problem / Solution. Ive looked in your http://www.perl.com/CPAN-local// site. and *I KNOW* the module I want / need - EG (in this case - HTTP::Simple.pm) I want to do a search for that module, and be able to just save it to my disk & upload to my site - without any fuss. I find The options of :- "The module list .. .. The Modules" (*) I click this - which takes me to :- http://www.perl.com/CPAN-local//modules/00modlist.long.html#Part2-ThePerl5M Now - you page-down several times - and begin to see a long list of module types. I look for "HTTP::" - and find the HTTP::Status module "::Status Rmpf HTTP Status code processing LWWWP" I click on the LWWP part - 'clickable' - I EXPECT to be able to d/load that module. This takes me to the :- http://www.perl.com/CPAN-local//authors/00whois.html#LWWWP section - mailing lists *ABOUT* CGI / PERL - not the module itself. - I try this on all the options youve got - & sub-menus in the directories at your site. ****************************************************** QUESTION / SOLUTION REQUESTED :- :- Is there a place where I can d/load the actual modules - in ZIP format ? - or INDIVIDUALLY. EG - I D/load HTTP.ZIP - and un-zip it - I now have ready-to-go files - to upload to my site - all of the HTTP:: variety. - As I'm using the MS-DOS format - I can only use files with 8 or less characters. A ZIP format of files may be time-consuming for you to do to up-date / convert to MS-DOS format - but if I could d/load the modules INDIVIDUALLY, I can re-name them to whatever i wanted, to suit my directory structure. *** END MESSAGE. *** ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
