I know this is not exactly the right mailing list etc but from the mails
on it I suspect someone here knows the answer...

I'm looking for an idiots guide to XML parsing in perl as I'm an idiot
and I need to parse XML. I've read and only semi-understood the
XML::Parser documentation and I was wondering if there was an equivalent
to LWPcook for XML?

The issue is that I mostly need to take large complex XML documents
(produced by PubMed usually) and extract the interesting records/fields
from them. In other words I don't really want to parse the entire XML
tree I just want to extract 2 or 3 fields from each record (or
annoyingly in some cases each sub-record).

Clearly I can write a crude parser from scratch but thats a) ugly and b)
probably unnecessary, but on the other hand XML::parser seems to be a
bit of an overhead....

Thanks in advance for any help
