Since you're code takes place over HTTPS rather than HTTP, you need to install
the Crypt::SSLeay mod to make HTTPS connection possible. It appears from the
information you provided that Crypt::SSLeay is not installed. Please visit
cpan and search for the Crypt::SSleay mod (http://search.cpan.org). You should
quickly find the mod you need. Download the mod and install.
Since most of the Perl work I do is on the Windows platform, I'm not familiar
with the details of installing this mod on the AIX platform; however, you
probably just need to do a tar-xvf to uncompress/untar and then run something
like a "make" "make install". There is another way of loading modules on UNIX
platforms via CPAN but I am not familiar with the details.
Once you have that mod you simply need to add a "use Crypt::SSLeay" near the
beginning of your code. Not positive that all of your issues will be resolved
but I'm certain you'll be much closer. Also, even though you are on AIX you
might still find the following article on IBM DeveloperWorks helpful
(http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/web/library/wa-perlsecure.html). The
article is Windows specific but it might help a little bit.
Good Luck

--- Begin Message ---
First, I am not a Perl programmer or very familiar with the AIX
operating system. I have been asked to develop a Web Service Client to
send a request to a Websphere Java Web Service provider. The Web Service
provider is SSL. I have attached my code. I have also included the
versions of libraries that our server team has installed for me at the
bottom of this email. I performed a perl -V so that you can see our
perl settings. I am receiving the following error:
Any help would be deeply appreciated.
