He could be like FSF and insist that people sign the copyright of modifications
over to him before he accepts them into his main source thread.

Over at technocrat.net, I've been insisting that authors of postings to
the bulletin board give me an independent copyright on their postings,
while they keep their own copyright as well. That way, either of us can
do anything we want with the postings. It's been working fine.
