list archive/hardware design license discussion?

Hi,

I'm new to this list - forgive me if there's a well-known answer
to this question.
I believe there have been discussions before on the list about appropriate
free licenses for hardware designs. However, I can't find an archive
for the list. Is there an archive; and if not, has anyone kept 
records of any related threads?
