I had the same problem recently: french has some special characters é,è,â,... and it had worked with my windoze-friends without problem.
The problem was (in qt-gui options) that I had changed local/conversion (general tab) to frecnh (seemed logical). But everything works fine with latin_2 conversion and an iso8859-15 font. These should work for german (not tested) because this encoding is not french-specific but european. Give it a try (and if it doesnt, a good deal of tweaking fonts and local settings should work too) Besides, is anyone having problems compiling licq with gcc3.1? A friend (newbie to linux) told me it wouldn't compile. I'm planning to upgrade my gcc, so I'll send a new mail if there is really a problem with it.
