I also ran into segfaults with recen (younger than 3 months) CVS versions and
newer Qt and KDE versions. I sort of fixed it by running LICQ with

        licq -- -noxim

for the Qt plugin or

        licq -- --noxim

for the KDE plugin. Though now I don't have input methods support (no accents,
no chinese input, but I can live with that for now).
