My only suggestion is that if chatmode is on, the message field would show all events in one "page", rather than one event per page. I'm thinking along the lines of the difference in Adobe Acrobat when you have the option for multi-page turned on: If it's off, you only see one page and you can scroll around on it. If you want to see the next page, you scroll farther (or hit page-down) and the document jumps to the next page. With the multi-page option (forget what it's called) on, you can scroll smoothly from page to page. The chatview is like the multi-page view; the event view is like the one-page-at-a-time view. For me, the only reason I use chat-view is because my friends insist on sending me lots of very short messages; it's as if they don't know how to put a newline into their messages without sending the message. Thus, it's important to be able to see many messages at once. Note that we can still use the event table (with the 'headlines' of the events) to scroll the message view to a particular event; this would be similar to a link in html that jumps down the page. As far as I'm concerned, I'd also like to see some indication in the chat window that other events have occurred; such as a chat request or file transfer. Heck, it could be a configurable option if people want. But I'd like to see it.
