Well I do not experience crashes or memory leaks, but who wants to run a PC with an increasing amount of zombies? ;)
Well, finally I compiled my 2.4.20 *with* UNIX98_PTYS and no zombies anymore. well, it looks difficult for automake/conf considering this. It would be nice tough if I could run my kernel without UNIX98_PTYS and still run licq without any zombies.
