I know this problem. If someone wants to reproduce this error, try the
following: Just edit your alias in your info, save it, send it to the server
and retrieve it again. You will notice your alias is now set to the "square",
in the owner.Licq this character appears as ^F in my vim... However, this
seems to be an error on the licq-side, on the server, the alias seems to be
stored correctly. If other clients update your info, the alias is correct.
If you want to set your alias back to what it should be, this works for me:
Shut down licq, edit your ~/.licq/owner.Licq and set the Alias to the name you
want it to be (and how it is stored on the server). If you start licq again
and re-retrieve your personal info, you will hopefully notice that your alias
is now correct.
My character encoding is set to ISO 8859-15, btw...
However, I don't understand this behaviour. A week or so, I changed my Alias,
sent it to the server and retrieved again - Now I had this symbol in Alias,
PhoneNumber and FaxNumber set... I have some users in my contact list who got
"squares" in their PhoneNumber and FaxNumber, too. They use licq.
I'm just curious: Are you connecting to the icq-server via proxy?
