Hi wwp, thanks for replying.

Your suggestion with the encoding for each contact solved the normal message text, thanks.. :) silly of me to miss that one. The problem with the contacts list is that the nicknames have been added with the wrong encoding in the first place, so now I have to edit all the contacts with special characters manually and change them, but since it's just a matter of doing this once, I think I can live with it. :)
