Unless OpenSSL has changed their API (which I dont think they would do since it would break many apps), it must be something on your system. Try running ldconfig.. and maybe put the path to the openssl lib directory in /etc/ld.so.conf. Just google for it and you can get the source and install it fairly easily if there is no package.
