When you are using iso-8859-1 as in the above text, then you can't
write � (euro sign), it will show up as � because those two characters
are the same, only in different character sets. That's also why this
message containing both will be sent as utf-8.

Anyway. I just sent a euro sign to one of my friends and got one
back. There was no problems with that, so it must be your system that
has a problem. My friend is using Mandrake 8.2 and a snapshot from a
while ago. I'm using RedHat 7.2 and the lastest CVS-version.
