That is not quite correct.

When compiling Qt, you can unpack it e.g. in /usr/lib/qt3 and export the QTDIR
variable with that value. Building Qt3 should then be no problem. Also make
sure that /usr/lib/qt3/bin, where moc and other tools will end up, comes
first in your $PATH, at least before the Qt2 moc. This way programs will find
Qt3 installed. I do have both Qt 2.2.x and 3.0.x running on this machine
without problems. When you are compiling Qt programs you just have to make
sure QTDIR is set to the desired directory and $PATH points to the correct
version of the tools.

At home I'm still using Qt 2.2.2 and LICQ and it builds fine. Can you give
more precise error messages?

To be honest: I never got anything working besides Latin character sets.
Cyrillic or anything else somehow worked for me if both parties set the
character encoding for the messages to the exact same type. But I guess
language support in the ICQ protocol in general just plainly sucks.

Пока,

        Arne
