This is brilliant, just what I needed. It should be in the licq
distribution.

There's just one problem: the ui_viewevent command pops up the event in
the "old-style" message view where I have to click reply and get a
second window even if I use chatmode messageview. After I reply the
first window closes and I'm in chatmode, but closing the first window
means "losing" the message that started the conversation.

This used to be the normal chatmode behavior, but it was fixed a few
months ago so all incoming messages spawn a chatmode window right away.
I guess the fifo code was just overlooked.
