Unfornately, all of these just result in:

function() {jQuery('#'+"item-save").empty().after("<div>this.id was
toggled</div>");}

They simply treat this.id as part of the passed in NodeSeq,
"<div>this.id was toggled</div>". I need it
to output <div>this.id + "was toggled"</div>.
