Sure, but where? There's no debian directory in lp:lightdm-gtk-greeter. I would think that ideally, I would submit a patch to the Debian maintainers. However, the Ubuntu package seems to have diverged from Debian (1.8.5-2 in sid, 1.9.0-0ubuntu1 in vivid).
