I have a new install of Fedora 24 with the Mate desktop 1.16.1 with ligthdm-gtk 1.8.5-20fc24. I can login to the desktop as root but when I try to login to my user account it just returns to the greeter. In /var/log/lightdm/x-1-greeter.log I found this. "* (process:5124): WARNING *: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files * (lightdm-gtk-greeter:5100): WARNING *: Failed to load user image: Failed to open file '/home/eric/.face': Permission denied". I've got the user image setting turned off, and am using only one seat. Yes I know this is a Ubuntu forum but after many hours of searching this is the only place that offers any help with lightdm, so I'm hoping you can help out. The reference manual I did find might have been some help if I was a C++ programmer but I'm not.
