perhaps we could take an approach similar to this:

we could tackle Pirsig's work page by page or so.  this might provide lots
of room to be creative and flamboyant, within a smaller, more defined area
of focus.  since i don't have a copy of Lila right with me, i'm not going
to make any suggestions.  but maybe somebody else will like this idea and
have a suggestion...
