Hi Folks
It's that time of the month when we start to put the old topic to bed
and set the alarm for a new discussion.
There are some minor changes this month for generating and selecting
next months PROGRAM topic, in line with the continuing quest to achieve
the easiest and most effective method of selection possible. If this
process works well then we'll adopt it for future months.
The process is to be broken into two stages:
1) Suggestions for Topics
2) Voting for suggestions
STAGE 1 - CALL FOR TOPICS
The first stage consists of gathering suggestions for the PROGRAM topic
for the coming month.
An initial post (this post) informs members that in two days time there
will be a Call For Topics. This gives everyone a couple of days to have
a think about what you might like to suggest as the PROGRAM topic for
the coming month.
Two days later the Call for Topics will be posted. This starts a 3-4
day period during which members post their topic suggestions for
discussion for the coming month.
All suggestions not used for the coming month will be added to a list
of topics for discussion which will be posted to the MOQ.ORG website.
These can be utilized in later months.
At the end of the Call For Topics period all suggestions will be posted
to the Lilasquad mailing list.
STAGE 2 - CALL FOR VOTES
The second stage consists of voting for the PROGRAM topic for the
coming month.
Members are invited to vote for the topic which they wish to discuss in
the coming month.
There is a 2 day period during which members should post their choice
of topic to the Lilasquad mailing list.
Each member may vote for 1 topic only.
At the end of the voting period the votes will be counted and the next
months PROGRAM topic will be announced. Members then begin discussing
the subject.
Below is a summary of the procedure:
Day -8
Announcement that call for topics will be made on Day -6
Day -6
CALL FOR TOPICS - Members post their topic suggestions to the list
Day -3
All suggestions are consolidated and the list of topics posted list
Day -2
CALL FOR VOTES - Members post their vote to the list
DAY 0
Votes counted and PROGRAM topic posted. Members begin dialogue.
* Members can vote for one topic only.
* Suggestion of topic and vote for topic are separate.
* In the event of a tie the New Moderator will decide.
* The New Moderator may reword the topic question to make it more
conducive to constructive dialogue on the MOQ.
