Hello LS,
Amigos invisibles(*),
Invisible friends: It is one thing to have the good fortune to half-way understand the
MOQ
and another to explain it, or better yet, to have the Power to pass it on to others.
The
power of the MOQ lies not only understanding the basic and simple components
[(classical)
(a) (inorganic, biological, social, intellectual)]; but also to be able to understand
the
relationship between its parts [(romantic) (b) (The necessity principle)]. When you
think
about it, both ideas are quite simple. Once we understand that ( a and b); we could use
'practical situations' or 'real life situations' put them through the Test of both
ideas
and then go to the conclusions. It is the same idea as the Scientific Method. First you
formulate your Theory, you formulate a Hypothesis. Second, you run experiments or test
to
apply the hypothesis and prove the results. Those results have to be repeatable, or you
might say also predictable.
I have what I call my 'MOQ lens'. I put them on to analyze situations, for everything
really. Sometimes I put the MOQ lens to rest, i.e. I need a Vacation to recharge. There
have been some period of my life when I 'forgot my MOQ lens' somewhere, and paid the
price
for my blindness. My MOQ lens do two things. At one level it classifies the situation,
puts it at a inorganic, biological, social or intellectual level; next level which I
think
is either higher or outside the primary classification, based on the Necessity
Principle,
it tells me what is RIGHT and what is WRONG. Then I have a choice, for ACTION or
PARALYSIS.
With all of the above in mind, I will like to visit on three ideas:
(1) David Thomas.- The emphasizing the ability of the lower levels to
destroy the upper ones 'must not be' overlooked.
(2) Richard Budd.- The static power principle coupled with the existing Necessity
principle.
(3) Kevin Sanches.- Another look at the 'Principles of Power'.
(1)[David L Thomas wrote:

thousand? How do we know? Does MoQ tell us? No, just that there is some limit?
So I agree wholeheartedly that emphasizing the ability of the lower levels to
destroy the upper ones must not be overlooked.
I like the way the proponents of the Gaia theory put it.
"The earth system is too robust to be killed by us, [not] by a million
hydrogen bombs,.. There is some solace in knowing that if homo sapiens does
not prove wise enough, and is snuffed out by Gaia.. at least life will go on.
As the 'geologian' Thomas Berry emphasizes: the earth is primary, we are
secondary, and if we continue to deny this simple fact and go on as we are, we
will go the way of the dinosaurs." ]
Carmen: An ordinary person (i.e. an environmentalist with good intentions) would be
very
offended by such statements, but MOQ people will not. "the earth is primary, we are
secondary, and if we continue to deny this simple fact and go on as we are, we
will go the way of the dinosaurs." and to that I will add, don't come home crying
about it
either. This is a basic statement based on practical principles, to the ordinary
onlooker
(i.e. someone without MOQ vision or the MOQ Lens); such statement might sound
'sentimental', but it is not. For example. Why is it wrong for Pakistan and India to
'flex their nuclear weapons muscles at each other'. It is wrong because they are using
my
house, my home and my children's home ( The Earth) without caring one cucumber (un
pepino)
about it. Wouldn't that be nice if we could get people like that and 'beam them up or
out'
to Mars or somewhere in a planet without Life?. Then tell them: Here you go FLEX your
weapons of mass destruction now. But Leave My Home Clean, the rest of us need it.

.........However, as you have said this says doesn't account for the need for
higherlevels
to preserve lower ones. This I is already accounted for I believe
by the static power principle coupled with the existing Necessity principle::
II. The Static Power Principle:
> Static power is the capability to sustain static qualities.
Carmen: Again, it looks great to me, but remember I have my MOQ Lens on. Others don't.
What I would like is a statement that will put emphasis on the Necessity Principle and
would stand out the same way as the other principles. So that a MOQ blind, could 'see
it'.
"IV. The Necessity Principle:
> Both static power and Dynamic power are necessary to valuing more
>Quality."
I think this says that Static power is the capability of maintaining static
qualities which are necessary to valuing more Quality. With my proposed
expansion of the Morality principle I think all the necessary "rules" are
accounted for. What do you think???].
Carmen: we need more emphasis for the MOQ blind to see.
(3)[Kevin Sanches wrote:
Carmen's & Kevin's Four Principles of Power:
I. The Power Principle:
Power is the capability to value Quality.
II. The Static Power Principle:
Static power is the capability to sustain static qualities.
III. The Dynamic Power Principle:
Dynamic power is the capability to evolve toward Dynamic Quality.
IV. The Necessity Principle:
Both static power and Dynamic power are necessary to valuing more Quality.
V. The Morality Principle:
Dynamic power ought to be valued above static power.]
Carmen: I wanted to revisit the principles. Do we have to add:
VI. The certainty Principle
Dynamic power must be use only to transform static levels, not to destroy
them. If
stuck in such situation, it will be better to wait for another Dynamic moment.
Carmen: It doesn't sound quite right, but close. What do you'll think?

(*) Amigos invisibles. Arturo Uslar Pietri is a venezuelan writer (one on my list of
favorites), he is also or was a very active politician, he is on his early nineties
now.
He had a TV program on the venezuelan equivalent of PBS, National TV. The program was
called "Valores Humanos", the translation "Human Values". I never missed any of the
program when I was a child, not because I wanted to grow up and be an 'intellectual',
but
because it was the only channel we could get on the remote area where we lived during
my
childhood. The first words he used whenever he introduced the program was "Mis queridos
'Amigos Invisibles'". You think of Mr. Uslar Pietri and the next sentence is "Amigos
Invisibles". Somehow I think of all of you as 'amigos invisibles'.
This is one of my 'Rossane Rossana Danna' episodes. (For those of you familiar with
Linda
Radner's characters and the old shows from 'Saturday Night Live').
"Never Mind"., I just thought I would share this with you.
