Comment #23 on issue 2246 by [email protected]: beaming in 3/4 - a setting to not beam 3 eights against the beat.

I started looking through music and found that the rule against beaming 3 eighths against the beat is violated with impressive consistency in Baroque through Early Modern music.

I found just two examples where the rule was followed: One was pickups to a Beethoven minuet in the B&H edition. The other was an American teaching edition of another minuet in the series, but the B&H beams the 3 eighths together as shown below. This was among well over 30 cases of 3/4 music with the rhythms in question.

Manual beaming might serve as the user-selectable option to follow this particular rule, as very few cases invite the confusion that this rule protects against.
