New issue 2618 by [email protected]: Doc: Clarify interaction of \inversion and \relative
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2618

Alexandre Ficagna reported:

This was not a bug but the documentation could have been better.

Trevor Daniels made a doc suggestion here:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-lilypond/2012-06/msg00108.html

Doc suggestion follows:

In NR 1.1.2 Changing multiple pitches, section Inversion:

http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.15/Documentation/notation/changing-multiple-pitches#inversion

After the text "The musicexpr is inverted interval-by-interval, and then transposed so that from-pitch is mapped to to-pitch"

Please add either:

"If the pitches in a motif are expressed in
relative form be sure to apply any inversions to the motif outside
a \relative block, not within it."

Or:

"Motifs to be inverted should be expressed in
absolute form or be first converted to absolute form by
enclosing them in a \relative block."

This seems to be the only place that \inversion appears in the documentation, apart from the index.

Cheers,
Colin
