Tu put some more explanation on it: a trivial change is a change in text that does not change the meaning and formatting instructions. A change in comments is also trivial.
Any change for which you checked by example that it does what is intended is not trivial. Any change which is intended to change behavior is not trivial. Any change which conceivingly changes regtests, whether you want to call it trivial or not, needs to pass through Patchy so that there is a record of what regtests it affects, intentionally or not, for later. Tracking down regtest changes between versions to one of 60 changes (not untypical for a release) is not going to be fun when you actually have to do bisection since people did not bother letting the change get tested by Patchy.
